Parvovirus

What Is Parvovirus?

Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease that can produce a life-threatening illness. The virus attacks rapidly dividing cells in a dog’s body, most severely affecting the intestinal tract. It causes severe diarrhea which leads to dehydration. Parvovirus is especially deadly to young puppies. It is very important to be sure your pet is vaccinated for parvovirus and try not to expose your puppy to too many dogs until those vaccines are given.
